The Portland Symphony Orchestra enters its 6th season performing a "Patriotic Pops" concert at southern Maine’s largest annual Independence Day celebration.
Against a stunning backdrop of Casco Bay, the PSO begins just before dusk and continues through a spectacular fireworks show. Serving the City of Portland, the State of Maine, and northern New England, the PSO is the largest performing arts organization in Maine.
With critically acclaimed performances and broad community engagement, the PSO is widely regarded as one of the top symphony orchestras of its size in the country.Comprised of 82 musicians, the PSO is directed by Robert Moody who was instrumental in the Patriotic Pops concert becoming part of the "Stars and Stripes Spectacular."
